Great morning. Only improvement would be a better classroom. Ideally with an elevated area for Kristin, some that everyone could see the demonstration. She has to repeat instructions multiple times because it is hard for the students to see.

It was great. The instructor provided clear concise instructions. She was very attentive to all of our questions and made sure that everyone knew how to use the pastels. I would definitely recommend the class.

I had a great time creating this painting. The pacing was a little off with a slow start and a rush to finish. It should maybe be 2.5 hours or less intro before starting. Kristen is a fabulous artist. It?s was a little difficult to see in the space we had. But I would gladly recommend to others and do another class myself. It was fun experimenting with this medium.

I have been taking art courses for many years. My favorite medium is soft pastels. I also love working with charcoal, graphite, markers and ink. I have also been exploring other mediums such as oil pastels. My works are bright, colorful and in an expressionist style. The subjects are landscapes, particularly trees, and still life.
You may have seen my work at Grand Valley Artists, ArtPrize, Regional Art Festival and Celebration of the Arts.
I do believe that art brings beauty and hope to this world, and is a reminder of the magnificence of God's creations.

Kristen Pham is available for private bookings

Private or small classes are available by special appointment. Instructions will included basic drawing skills, such as line work, shading, composition and work on perspective.

5x7 Acrylic on canvas boardI love Van Gogh and the way his paint stokes flow. This was my attempt to capture that feeling through the wave encircling the kayaker. The challenge was painting the kayak and the person moving through the wave. Luckily acrylics are easy to work with.

The Fisherman11x14 acrylic on canvasI swear I am channeling someone else sometimes when I paint. This gentleman came into a life of his own. He looks nothing like the image I was using to paint from. I love his smiling eyes. I wish I knew him better!

20x30 acrylic on canvas. This was a recent commissioned piece. I painted the original back in 2018 and it is part of my private collection. The illusion of transparency in color is what I loved about painting this. I used a small sponge to show texture. A fun piece to paint!

Buddies is a watercolor done on textured watercolor board. The substrate gives the painting a "fuzziness" that softened the scene. It was a such a heart softening situation. A boy and his dog, the peacefulness of sleep, and a furbaby flashing his toe beans are irresistible.
