I have been taking art courses for many years. My favorite medium is soft pastels. I also love working with charcoal, graphite, markers and ink. I have also been exploring other mediums such as oil pastels. My works are bright, colorful and in an expressionist style. The subjects are landscapes, particularly trees, and still life.
You may have seen my work at Grand Valley Artists, ArtPrize, Regional Art Festival and Celebration of the Arts.
I do believe that art brings beauty and hope to this world, and is a reminder of the magnificence of God's creations.

Kristen Pham is available for private bookings

Private or small classes are available by special appointment. Instructions will included basic drawing skills, such as line work, shading, composition and work on perspective.

The moon has always been an object of fascination. There is a legend, that if you see a hare staring at the moon it is a sign of good things to come . I used pen and ink and watercolors.

Title or Location: Date Night Revisited
This is a pastel painting, 32x36 size, on Kitty Wallace Belgian mist sanded paper. I had worked on it about 20 years ago. I got it back out recently and reworked some areas. The subject "date night" is actually a Christian narrative. Believing that we all are loved we are all deserving of love, for our selves and for each other. God wants us to be together, and have joy and laughter, as we share our lives together, and yes, some romance.

Title or Location: Summer
I'm easily inspired by nature, all plants, bugs and critters. I live on a wooded 10 acre property so inspiration is always near. Recently, I've noticed more wildlife outside my office window in the city. I was compelled to create a piece to capture the beauty and whimsy of some of the inquisitive creatures that explore the scenery around me. If they only knew how much I appreciate their brief distraction from my every day busy life.

This beautiful artwork is of my niece that love to spend time at the ocean shore in Nayarit Mexico. My nice love to sit on a rock and contemplate the sun rays reflecting through the ocean waves and at the same time my nice love to feel the Fresh breeze on her face.

Title or Location: Not My Taste
In her piece, ?Not My Taste,? Grand Rapids-based collage artist Mary Bamborough provides a glimpse into an alternate reality in which a bird discovers that its latest meal did not live up to its usual culinary standards. The piece also prompts us to wonder, ?Are the bird and foliage gigantic, or are the people miniatures??

Title or Location: Lucy
This is Lucy, one of our favorite family dogs. She is the sweetest pooch and loves to ride in the car, windows opened. She is in her glory as her ears catch the wind and almost smiles. I tried to capture her wonderful nature in this watercolor painting. I used very heavy pigment to give detail to her fur. I so love the many styles watercolor allows you to create. It is one of my favorite paintings because, I Love Lucy:)

Title or Location: Adventure Awaits
This scene is from an early morning boat ride in New Hampshire - we had been here a couple of times over the last few years. It was so quiet and the water so still . The early morning fog had not lifted and people were still not stirring. I snapped a photo when I saw this scene with the colorful leaves framing the waiting boats. I knew I would paint this one day. It?s a 24 x 30 gallery wrapped oil painting. It can be seen at the Elizabethan Gallery.

From all of the moments we have in life, only a rare few become memories that are worth their weight in gold, like the moment you realize you've fallen in love. So I titled this piece "The Golden Moment."Acrylic paint 20?28 stretched canvas
